Jamshedpur, Sept. 18: CII’s Young Indians ( YI) chapter has come up with a challenge to ignite the spirit of fitness among youths. Titled Rise Challenge, it involved cycling, running and walking challenges.
“ The long lockdown has turned the fire to stay fit and live a healthy life in our hearts cold, we at Young Indians bring to you a new challenge to reignite that fire. The Rise challenge is to remind each one of us that we need to break out of the ‘new normal’ we have accommodated to,” said a senior official of YI.
He said that according to research it takes 21 days to make a habit. The Rise challenge is here to make fitness a habit. People from all over the country can participate in this challenge being organised by the Jamshedpur branch of Young Indians.
There are three categories of events in this 21 days challenge. Cycling Challenge: This is a three-week challenge. There will be mandatory cycling of at least five days in a week. Daily cycling will cover a distance of 15, 25, 35, 50,100 km. Walking Challenge: This is also a three-week challenge. In this also, walking for at least five days in a week is mandatory and daily walking will be up to 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 kilometers. Running Challenge: Like the above two challenges, it will also run for three weeks and running (running) at least five days a week will be unwarranted. The distance will be 2,5,7,10 km.
Apart from this, some daily events have also been kept. For example, Triathlon which has to be completed in 24 hours and 10 km running, 40 km cycling and 3 km walking will be done in this period itself. Similarly, within 24 hours in the Marathon, the distance of 21.09 km (half marathon) and 42.2 km (full marathon) will be covered respectively.
The challenge starts on 3 October and ends on 24 October. Registration for this has started from 12 September. The warm-up session will run from 26 to 28 September. The marathon will take place on 11 October and the challenge is scheduled to conclude on 24 October. It will be mandatory for every participant to use the Strava app for the event.
