Jamshedpur: CII launched the Indian Women Network (IWN) in 2013 for women across sectors from Corporates, Working Professionals and Colleges/Institutes in India. The IWN’s vision is to work with industry and civil society to strengthen women’s role and participation in the economic sphere and community affairs. Its endeavour is to address women’s issues at various stages of their lives.
Through this network CII provide a platform for women to discuss issues, opportunities, and learn from each other’s experiences and expert guest speakers. IWN aspires to create diverse activities that will connect women from all around the world. These activities ranges from political programs, business conferences, networking events, panel discussions, besides others.
Today’s business demands require not only core competence but also continuous and comprehensive learning, adapting to worldwide best practices, catering to domestic markets with global standards. IWN works towards enabling women become better professionals and achievers in their respective fields through various need based services for its members.
CII formally launched the IWN Jharkhand Chapter coinciding with a session on Women Professionals – Striking a Balance today in Jamshedpur.
The session brought together Women Professionals and entrepreneurs from Jamshedpur and all across Jharkhand to foster connects for inspiration and growth.
Addressing the Inaugural Session, Neeraj Kant, Vice Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council & Managing Director, The Indian Steel & Wire Products Limited stated that CII Jharkhand has been constantly working towards development and empowerment of women in the state, and now it is time to go beyond a subcommittee and panel working on these aspects to build an exclusive organization for women and take up issues of women. The Concept was worked by a group of women under the leadership of Ms Ujwala Asundi Kumar, the first Chairwoman of IWN Jharkhand Chapter & Head – CSR, Eefco Metals and Powders Ltd, who were actively involved in CII Jharkhand Women Empowerment Panel and Yi to put together the values this chapter would stand on. Mr Kant congratulated IWN Jharkhand team and wished them all success to roll out initiatives which would help encourage women to pursue their careers beyond their limitations.
Killol Kamani, Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council & Managing Director, Samarth Engineering Co Pvt Ltd said that Women Workforce is the backbone of the economy and plays a crucial role in furthering growth, innovation and prosperity. There are many initiatives that CII has taken over the years in the area of Women Empowerment and IWN is a new feather to the hat. The CII Jharkhand Women Empowerment panel, over the years, has done excellent work he was hopeful that in its new avatar as IWN Jharkhand Chapter would serve as a networking platform for women – professionals, business owners, students and faculty to share experiences, understand the dynamic business landscape, overcome challenges and learn to invest in themselves for growth.
The session was also addressed by Dr Vijaya Bharat, Rtd. Head of the Department – Cardiology, TATA Main Hospital; Dr Bini Sarangi, General Practitioner and Social Activist; Preeti Sehgal, Chief- CSR & Company Secretary, JUSCO; Ms Deepti Patel, Director, Invset Edge Advisors Pvt. Ltd. and Sumedha Goyal, Proprietor, ASL Motors.
Ujwala Asundi Kumar, Chairwoman, IWN Jharkhand briefed the participants on IWN and its agenda of engaging, empowering and enabling women professionals through the three verticals of Health and Wellness, Policy and Advocacy and Learning & Development.
Chitra Singh, Pranic Healer, GMCKS Light Workers delivered the Theme address at the session.
