Saraikela: “Wear Your Helmets,” “Put on Your Seat Belts” and other posters screamed in the hands of a multitude of school children as they ran from the Community Centre to the Birsa Munda Stadium as a part of the Road Safety Week launched by the Transport Department.
Administrative officials and the children participants took an oath to observe road safety.
The Run for Road Saftey was flagged off by Road Safety Department Officer Anup Kishore Sharan, District Sports Officer Bal Kishor Sharan, District Treasury Deputy Collector Amarendra Kumar, District Public relations Officer Rahul Bharti, Nagar Panchayat Vice President Manoj Chowdhary and Executive Officer Rajiv Ranjan Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Manoj Chowdhary said every year many people lost their lives due to non-adherence to traffic safety norms or about their ignorance. He said that parents should explain to their children about these norms before sending them to driving schools.
Chowdhary cast light on various road safety norms. The children shouted slogans during their run.
Amarendra Kumar made the run participants and the general public at the Birsa Munda Stadium take a pledge to observe road safety norms always.
Drinkinking Water and sanitation Department Executive Engineer Dipak Mahto, BEEO Dilip Kumar, teachers and students of Nripraj Government Plus II High School, KVPSD Girls’ High School, Saraswati Sishu Mandir High School, Sister Nivedita English School and other schools participated in the Run for Safety.
