Jamshedpur, May 19 : It’s rush hour for the swimming pools in the city, most ofthem being flooded with swimmers and bathers for whom taking a dipseems to be the best and the only option.
The clubs in the city are flooded with swimmers these days. Theswimming pool of G Town Club is abuzz with swimming activities, as inthe last fortnight the strength of budding swimmers have increasedmanifold. Officials of the club informed that they are receivingfrantic calls for admission.
“The response this year is tremendous. People are keen to refresh witha splash. I can’t provide you the exact figures but the number of footfallsat our pool has increased with the onset of summers,” said Ramesh Kumar of G Town Club.
“Nothing seems more close to ecstasy than a splash in the pool especially during the sweltering months of summer. This is my third year of swimming and I am enjoying every moment of it,” said a student of Carmel Junior College and a member of United Club.
“The response has been excellent this summer. By the beginning of June, therush has increased. In our club strokes like freestyle, backstroke andbreaststroke are taught here under the watchful eyes of the coaches.Moreover the specially treated antiseptic water ensures that theswimmer’s complexion doesn’t get tanned,” said an official of UnitedClub pool.
Meanwhile, JRD Tata sports complex that recently hosted a 20-day summer camp, witnessed maximum rush in swimming.
“With the temperature boiling I think the best way to beat the heat is to have splash in the pool. Children need something constructive to do during the vacation and there can be no better way than,” said Avinash Kumar, co-coordinator of the summer camp at JRD Tata sports complex.
He said that summer camps serve a dual function. The basic swimming is taught also use this as a talent hunt, where promising children will be picked and promoted for competitive swimming.
Meanwhile another instructor at United Club said that with the start of the summer season, pools are witnessing a heavy rush. Swimming coaching camps are mushrooming and every swimming pool in the city has something to offer to enthusiasts.
“A brush with the pool water relaxes and rejuvenates both mind andbody. Since we don’t have water parks like the metro cities we canonly opt for swimming in the city pools or traditional ponds,” saidNikhil Naredi, a former student of DBMS English School.
