Jamshedpur, May 25: Another corona positive case was reported in East Singhbhum district on Monday, taking the tally to 25. The patient is a resident of Chakulia and has travel history. He returned to Chakulia from Maharashtra on May 15 and was under quarantine in Bend village of Chakulia. After his report came positive on May 25 he has been shifted to Tata Main Hospital COVID-19 Ward and is undergoing treatment. East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Ravi Shanker Shukla confirmed the report and informed that travel history and contact details of the other residents of the region is being looked into. DC urged the residents not to move out of their house unless very urgent and use face masks, sanitizers, wash hands on regular intervals and do not spit here and there.
Four corona positive cases were reported on Sunday, May 24. Baridih area of the city has recorded three cases and has been declared the containment zone.
Total positives in East Singhbhum now stand at 25. East Singhbhum deputy commissioner, Ravi Shanker Shukla confirmed about the detection of three new case in Jamshedpur.
DC urged the residents of Jamshedpur to cooperate the administration in fighting the pandemic.
Earlier on Wednesday (May 20) nine new cases of coronavirus positives were reported in Jamshedpur. Two from Mango, one from Golmuri and six from Govindpur tested positive for coronavirus. After their sample tests at MGM College Virology Department, the nine infected persons were shifted to the COVID-19 Ward of Tata Main Hospital.
Most of the cases reported in Kolhan Division are that of migrant labourers. The administration has asked the authorities to ensure strict screening of the people coming back to the city. Special focus is being laid on the screening. The administration has also set a screening centre at Loyola School where the swab is being collected from those suspects returning back to the city.
The administration has formed teams at block-level and also in three civic bodies of Jamshedpur, Jugsalai and Mango for strict vigil on suspected cases.
The vigil has been stepped up at Tatanagar Railway Station. All the passengers are undergoing thermal screening, and have to fill up their travel history and contact details at the Tatanagar Station.
Meanwhile, the administration is keeping close vigil on those returning back to the city. An official informed that vigil on those returning have been increased in order to ensure that suspects are identified.
