Chaibasa, Sept 24: “Out of the 11 bills brought up by the Modi government during the Monsoon Session of parliament four bills related to farmers are against the interest of the peasants,” observed Chaibasa parliamentarian who came out against the central government all guns blazing. She said that the Farm Bills enactments were anti farmers.
She claimed that states like Jharkhand that were agriculture based will have negative effects. “Through the enactment of the Farm Laws, contract farming and corporate farming concepts are being provided a fillip. Only the private companies stand to gain through passing of these Laws.”
Geeta Koda accused that through 50 years the MSP and Minimum Support Price that had been set were being aimed to be nullified. She said that the entire system of public procurement and FCI that purchased food grains for distribution to the public were being eliminated. “The most unfortunate part is that the central government did not feel the need of holding consultations with the state governments prior to formulating the laws,” and added, “The Modi government’s policies are anti farmers. They intend to mortgage farms to capitalists. Farmers will be slaves. This will prove to be a death knell for farmers. The central government is determined to sell the fate of farmers and their farm land to a fistful of capitalists. The BJP ploy to defeat green revolution will never be allowed to take shape.”
