Self study key to my success: Jamshedpur Humanities topper

Jamshedpur, July 13: Prerna Singh of DAV Public School Bistupur is over the moon with her performance in the CBSE class 12 exam. Prerna got the privilege to be Arts city topper in the CBSE class 12 exam, the result of which was announced on Monday afternoon.

Daughter of Timken employee Gouri Shankar Roy and homemaker mother Maya, Prerna scored 98 % to bag the first place in Jamshedpur. ‘Humanities has been my favorite subject since my school days in Carmel Junior College from where I completed my class 10 with 97.2% marks and was later enrolled in class 11 at DAV Public School in Arts stream,” said Prerna.

Jamshedpur topper wants to study International Relation and now after scoring high in class 12 she would get into the college of his choice in a foreign country.

Prerna pointed out that studying for long hours will not help but studying for short durations with concentration can help one score well.

‘I appeared for the SAT exam when I was in class 11 and have been interested in learning International Relation and now I want to get admitted into a prominent college either in United Kingdom or Singapore. The colleges have asked to submit the copy of the result by mid July and with CBSE announcing the results today it would be convenient for me to send the result by tomorrow,’ said an elated Prerna, adding, “I have never taken tuition in my school life and thought that it is always more productive during self studies where you maintain a rhythm in studies and fix a plan on how to study.”

Resident of Northern Town in Bistupur Prerna further said, “After school I focused on 4 to 5 hours of self studying and go through whatever is taught in the school. I have always been attentive in school and supportive teachers have been of an added advantage to me. My parents have always stood by my side and my brother Prateek Kumar who is preparing for UPSC in Kolkata always helped me in my success.”
