Jadugoda: The electricity department has filed complaint against 19 persons illegally tapping power lines. Most quarters in the Rakhamines Copper Residential Complex have been occupied illegally by non employees who have also been tapping power. In a sudden move the Executive Engineer of the electricity department Gaurav Kumar and SDO Prashant Raj raided the colony. Many among the illegal power tappers had disconnected their lines. The electricity department on Thursday lodged an FIR in the Jadugoda police station against 19 persons. The fine claimed amounted to Rs 1,78,000.

According to the FIR Shiv Kumar Mishra, Ajay Prasad Vishwakarma, Rajesh karua, Ashok Dey, Vijay Singh Banra, Mangal Besra, Sukhlal Soren, Indrajit and Vishwanath Sharma will have to pay Rs 10,000 each as penalty for utilizing unauthorized power connection while Amush Singh, Mukesh Kumar Pandit, Rajkumar Srivastav, Sunil Mishra Umashankar Pathak, Sugriv Chowdhary, Prabhu Nath Soren, Dinabandhu Tanti, Pradip Chandra Patro and Sudarshan Das have been fined Rs 8,000 each.
