Jamshedpur, April 9: The young achievers have made the Steel City proud one again. Five students of Carmel Junior College are among the top finalists in Wharton University of Pennsylvania investment competition for classes 9-12. The finale of the event will be held on April 30 were the team of five comprising of Sameer Nayak, Rohan Gupta, Smriti Prakash, Viraat Singh and R Prashant led by the teacher Prabha Prakash will be flying to the United States to participate in the finale.
The team was responsible for managing the portfolio of $100,000 in virtual cash. Speaking about the achievement, Sister M Sylvie, Principal of the School said, “Team ‘Who Let the Stocks Out’ from Carmel Junior College competed with 325 high schools around the world and were selected among top 10 which in itself is a great accomplishment. The team was guided by Jayant Sakuja and Sumedha Goyal on business strategies were the competition was held from January 15 to March 27”.
Principal further informed that Wharton and Amity Judges reviewed the final investment policies and selected the top teams who will go for the final presentation in Pennsylvania on April 30. The team was supported by the Princiapl, Vice Principal Sister Steffi and entire team management and the parents of the team members involved in this great achievement.
The Investment Competition is a free, online investment simulation for students and teachers. Participants learn about teamwork, communication, risk, diversification, company analysis, industry analysis and investing. Class competes with other classes from high schools around the country. Each class of teams, led by its teacher, will be responsible for managing a portfolio of $100,000 in virtual cash. At the end of the competition, teams are required to submit a document detailing their recommended investment strategy.
