Jamshedpur: Sakchi police have arrested the transporter Deepak Mohanani and Sanjay Mohanani in the case of black marketing of government grains.
Police confirmed their arrest on Friday. The accused were arrested on Thursday from Bahragora. Police recovered five mobile phones, a car and cash Rs 7340 from their possession, said Jamshedpur City DSP Anudeep Singh. According to police, the accused were on the run and were changing locations ever since the matter came into light. Police had received information that both the accused were on the way to Bengal and were arrested mid way from Bahragora. During interrogation they revealed the name of many officials involved in the incident. AGM (Assistant Godown Manager) of Sakchi Godown KP Singh and Jagdish Hazra of Burmamines Godown name has surfaced.
Deepak Mohanani has informed the police that for every 50 kg rice sack marketing officer was given Rs 100 while assistant godown manager was given Rs 50.
They are under interrogation at Sakchi police station. Raids are being conducted on the arrest of other accused involved in the business. An FIR was registered against Deepak Mohanani, his brother Sanjay Mohanani and others in Sakchi and Golmuri police stations in the black marketing case. On 18 September, the rationing department and police raided a house near KSMS School in Sakchi and in the warehouses of Golmuri. Large quantities of rice, sugar, wheat were recovered from here. Government cereals were kept in warehouses.
From there, grains were packed in other sacks and sold in the open market. It may be known that the entire game of black marketing of government grain was going on with the connivance of marketing officers and warehouse managers. There were cases of black marketing of grains in the rationing department in Potka and Parsudih. It is said that Mohanani brothers have also taken the name of three marketing officers in police interrogation.
