Jamshedpur : Jharkhand that has not seen a non-tribal chief minister since its inception may see Raghuvar Das as the first non-tribal chief minister of the state.
After the defeat of Arjun Munda, three time chief minister of Jharkhand, speculations of different names as would be chief minister are in the loop. Main contenders are Raghuvar Das, Saryu Rai , MLA from Jamshedpur West and Anant Ojha, MLA from Rajmahal.
Supporters of CM aspirants are lobbying for their candidates in state capital Ranchi where J P Nadda and Vinay Shastrabuddhe both senior BJP leaders will arrive in Ranchi as observers.
They will meet the party leaders and MLA’s and views their proposition. The observers will relay their findings to the party’s parliamentary affairs board from where upon getting the final nod the name of the chief minister will be declared.
Raghuvar a BJP loyalist and five times MLA from Jamshedpur east is a strong contender of the top post. As per sources, Raghuvar Das is believed to be the first choice of BJP national president Amit Shah.
Das is downplaying the possibilities of him being considered as the chief ministerial candidate following his party’s splendid show in the Jharkhand Assembly polls but the party top brass is seriously considering Das as the next CM looking at his past performance as the deputy chief minister in the Shibu Soren government in 2009.
In the meantime Jayant Sinha , member of parliament from Hazaribagh and son of veteran BJP leader Yaswant Sinha, arrived in Ranchi from Delhi and met Raghuvar Das and Arjun Munda .
Although a section of the party workers are of the belief that Jayant Sinha is also in the CM race, but Sinha said that his meeting with the leaders was regarding discussions of development of the State
