Jamshedpur: Members of Bharatiya Janata Party’s Mahila Morcha took out a candle march in the city on Wednesday to mark the sacrifice of the 25 CRPF jawans killed in Sukma (Chhatisgarh) in a Naxalite attack.
They paid tributes to the martyred jawans at Sakchi roundabout and appealed to one and all to join the campaign to honour the brave hearts.
Hundreds of women participated in the candle march which started at Sakchi near Jamshedpur Eye Hospital and culminated into a public meeting at the roundabout. Many BJP leaders led by district BJP president Dinesh Kumar also joined the Mahila Morcha members on the occasion.
Kumar condemned the attack on CRPF jawans and termed it as an act of extreme cowardice. He was joined by the district president of BJP Mahila Morcha Neeru Singh in condemning the incident. She said the Central government and governments of various Naxalite-hit states should join hands to end the menace of extremism once and for all.
Among others present on the occasion included Renu Sharma, Meena Devi, Ram Dulari Devi, Sonia Sahu, Seema Jaisawal, Seema Das, Meera Sharma, Shobha Srivastava, Preeti Panda, Pushpa Nishad, Saraswati Sahu and Lucky Singh.
