Jamshedpur : Jamshedpur West MLA Banna Gupta efforts see work on widening and repair of roads will begin soon. The Old Purulia Road would be repaired and widened at Rs 9.8 crore the Mango-Pardih road facelift will be at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crore.
Congress leader Banna Gupta said that The executive engineer road construction department has finally bagged the work order from the private contractor entrusted with the execution of the road repairing and widening work on February 20 and work will commence within four days at both the roads.
“It is a fruition of a longstanding fight with respective state government. I have got copies of the work order for the both the projects from the state government. I have already formed committees for both the projects which will be keeping tab on the quality of the construction work on both the roads so that there is no callousness on the part of the executing agency,” said Banna Gupta.
While the Old Purulia Road will be widened to 44 feet the Mango-Pardih Road will be widened to 55 feet.
The MLA further said that tenders for repair of 11 important roads in Mango locality will also be opened on March 1 by the executive engineer road construction department Anil Kumar Singh at his office.
The 4.4 km long Mango- Pardih Road popularly known as Purulia Road which not only links city with NH-33 but is used as the only road from city to entertainment center Payal Talkies, Mango police station, district provident fund office, Dalma division office of the forest department, Brahmananda Narayana Hrudayalaya (multispecialty hospital) and densely populated areas of Jawaharnagar, Pardih and Azadnagar witnesses traffic snarls most of the time due to road congestion owing to encroachments and poor condition of roads.
