Baharagora, March 31: The Adivasi Vikas Samiti organized the celebration of Baha Bonga festival at Disham Jaher Garh with flair and festive gaiety. This festival denotes worship of nature and Adivasis are traditional nature worshippers. The Baha Bonga celebration was marked by traditional piety. The worship rituals were performed by priest Majhi Baba.
Chief guest and local MLA Kunal Shadangi expressed his good wishes for the festive occasion. Shadangi observed, “The Adivasi community worship nature. Baha Bonga sends out a message of protecting and conserving nature.”
Majhi Pargana Mahal president Shastri Hembram, CPI(M)’s Swapan Mahto, JMM central committee member Aditya Pradhan, block president Asit Mishra and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
A huge crowd witnessed the Baha Bonga festivities. Dance groups from Jharkhand and Odisha presented pulsating traditional Adivasi dances that captured the fancy of all. The programs continued late into the night.
