Vishal Das relegated to the reserve bench
Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Football Club has decided to promote defense midfielder Asifullah Khan from the reserve team to the senior side (first-team squad) for the ongoing Indian Super league (ISL).
Asifullah who has played for teams like Hindustan FC in the I-League Second Division, Maharashtra’s Santosh Trophy Team and Mumbai FC’s U-18 side was spotted in Mumbai.
Asifullah, 24, was signed by Jamshedpur FC Reserve team about two months back and has been under observation of the coach.
During his stint in the Bodousa Cup 2018, which was conducted in Assam, he played a pivotal role and helped the Jamshedpur FC Reserves team finish second, with him featuring prominently in all the matches.
‘Asifullah hails from Nagpur and has played most of his football in Mumbai. He is physically sound which would be an advantage to the team. Asif has impressed one and all with his composure and is touted to play for the club in the near future’, said Jamshedpur FC CEO Mukul Choudhari.
Speaking to the scribes at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Saturday, Choudhari informed that Asifullah signed a three-year contract with Jamshedpur FC Reserve side and JFC head coach was closely observing him.
“According to rules, changes can be made to the squad only after the fifth or the tenth match of the league and a player can be included in the senior squad from the reserve team only.
ISL transfer window opens in January for 30 days towards the business part of the tournament where teams look to fill their missing pieces”, added Choudhari.
JFC CEO went on to say that Asifullah hails from the state of Maharashtra and has been involved in the game of football since his early days. The 24-year-old will wear jersey no.18 for Jamshedpur FC and is set to challenge for a starting berth in the upcoming Indian Super League matches.
Cesar Ferrando, Jamshedpur FC’s head coach has been mightily impressed by Asifullah Khan and has plans to integrate the youngster in the first team squad.
On the other hand, midfielder and Tata Football Academy graduate Vishal Das who didn’t get a chance to play in the current season of the league has been relegated to the reserve bench.
