Jamshedpur Carnival concludes with Kite Fest
Jamshedpur : On Sunday, the sky of the city was dotted with smiles of numerous kites as the second day of the Jamshedpur Carnival-2014 witnessed kite show.
Guiness Book record holder Mehul Pathak from Ahmedabad, along with a four-member professional team conducted workshops for the participants.
Tata Steel managing director T.V. Narendran inaugurated the kite festival. ” I am happy to see the excitement of the people. We want to make it an annual event and want to ensure that more people join the move, ” said Narendran addressing the august gathering at the Gopal Maidan.
The two-day Jamshedpur Carnival which kicked off on Saturday with a parade from Jubilee Park was organised by Tata Steel in association with Jusco, and XLRI.
People flew kites of different colours and sizes. The professional team from Ahmedabad assisted the participants.
“ I am happy to be in the city. Though this is the first time we are organizing it but want to take part in more such events here. The festival drew a good response especially children were much enthusiastic about kites,” said Mehul Pathak.
The main attraction was though the LED kites and flying lanterns which took place in the evening after sunset.
There were as several food stalls put up by various city hotels which offered chinese, Indian, continental and regional dishes. It was held under the aegis of Jamhedpur Hotelier’s Association.
