TSZP celebrates its 24th Foundation day
Jamshedpur, Jan 16
: Tata Steel Zoological Park (TSZP) stepped into its 24th year today and to commemorate this day a Prabhat Pheri was organized in the early hours in which 125 students from four city schools, namely Kerala Public School (KPS) Burmamines, KPS NML, NTTF RD Tata Technical Education Centre and JUSCO School, South Park along with their school teachers and twenty zoo personnel participated.

Prabhat Pheri was flagged of by Karma Zimpa Bhutia, Divisional Forest Officer, Jamshedpur Division who wished the zoo all success in organising the Animal Welfare Fortnight, 2014.

During Prabhat Pheri the students marched along 2.5 km around the green spreads of the Jubilee Park with banners in their hand which portrayed the pledge of the animals -“Live and let live”.

Sunil Bhakaran, President, Tata Steel Zoological Society, B.K.Dinda, President, Tata Steel Zoological Society Workers Union, P.R. Prasad, Hon. Secretary, Ritu Raj Sinha, Member and Bipul Chakrabarty, Director jointly cut the foundation cake.

A birthday song was also sung by all for the zoo. Later on the President, Tata Steel Zoological Society handed over the newly acquired veterinary services van to Dr. M. Palit, Zoo Veterinary Officer for its use by the zoo veterinary team.

In his speech, Sunil Bhaskaran congratulated the zoo team in maintaining the zoo on professional manner including care of the animals.

He said that the animals are much healthier in Tata zoo compared to other zoos in the country which he had visited. He wished that with help of Tata Steel, the zoo will improve further and be a major attraction for citizens of Jamshedpur.

He also informed about Tata zoo making efforts in bringing in a pair of giraffe which may gets materialize before the silver jubilee celebrations of the Tata Zoo in 2015.

He also asked the zoo management to publicize the zoos attractions namely Kruger lions and Mandrill Monkey through hoardings in city bus stand, other prominent public places in out skirts of the city and in Ranchi city, so that more number of visitors could be attracted to the zoo. He also shared his experiences on how the zoo has grown up and become a major tourist spot of the city.

P R Prasad, Hon. Secretary in his speech congratulated all the zoo personnel on the occasion of the 24th Foundation day celebrations and said that the management is always with the zoo personnel for their help. Dr.M.Palit, Deputy Director welcomed all the dignitaries while Seema Rani, Biologist cum Education Officer extended vote of thanks.

All zoo staffs were also commended for their year round good performance by giving them gift vouchers. Sanjay Kumar Mahato compered the entire programme.
