Jamshedpur : Tipplers from Jamshedpur continued their liquor consumption despite the local administration decision to ban liquor sale on Holi. The administration banned the alcohol ban in the city on the occasion of Holi.
However, its led to an increase in sale of liquor. “It is the police who have failed to act against those involved in illegal sale of liquor in the prohibited areas,” said a social worker.
Groups of youngsters pooled in money and bought several quarter bottles of brands in advance and began selling them at a premium at strategic locations. Many ‘outlets’ came up overnight in the lanes and bylanes. Bootleggers catering to high-end clients, too, did brisk business, said sources.
