Jamshedpur, Dec. 9: ADLS Sunshine School retained the International School Award (ISA) for three years (2018-2021), an accreditation scheme run by the British Council specially designed for schools to embed an International dimensions into the curriculum. The first time school received the award in 2015 for 3 years (2015-2018). The Principal, Indrani Singh and ISA Coordinator Veesha Mohindra were felicitated in a glittering award ceremony which took place at Leela Ambience, Delhi on December 5, 2018, said Indrani Singh.
Addressing a press conference in the school premises on Saturday, Indrani Singh informed, as part of the ISA action plan the school initiated 7 projects namely Drink Safe water and Stay clean, Beat The Heat And Go Green, Festivals Ahoy!, Yoga Aye Go! Go!, Wellness Clinic, Think Globally Act Locally, Smart to be Safe. The school collaborated with many International schools like Boston Grammar School, Lincolnshire, UK, Clitheroe Royal Grammar School, UK, Imperial International Grammar School, Karachi, Pakistan, Stee School, Nigeria, St. Joseph School, Karachi, GBPS Jan Muhammad Shoro Taluka Kotri, St. Jeane Antide School, Pakistan, Nepal Megha School, Nepal.
Apart from the Principal and the ISA Coordinator, forty five teachers were involved. Each team comprised a team leader. Subjects like English, EVS, Value Education, Computer Science, SUPW, History, Science, Geography, Creative Art, Music, Dance, Economics, Mathematics, General Knowledge and Physical Education were covered, she said.
“The students’ right from Nursery to Std XII were part of some or the other activities. They moved from being passive receivers of information to young people who creatively and innovatively engage with learning process. Improving technology has given them powerful tools to bring about change in the educational field. Each project was beautifully designed to cater to the needs of the students to acquire knowledge of different religions, diverse cultures, traditions in other countries. With the help of comparative study, students learnt about the diverse global culture”, Singh added.
“The learning outcome was incredible. The communication skills were enhanced. Tolerance, appreciation and team work was perfectly demonstrated. The evaluation methods included photographs, students’ work, group discussion, score sheet of different competitions, feed from the audience and partner school, Media coverage, article in school magazine and many more.
The most exciting moment was the project exchange and Skype discussion with partner schools across the globe. The ISA platform has given the stakeholders of the school the much needed exposure for pursuing cross cultural exchanges which shall continue in the future as well.
The Management of the school aims at empowering the individuals to become global citizens and that inspired the students and teachers to put in hard work. The guidance from the Principal, Indrani Singh and the support of staff members, parents and teachers has been instrumental in the ISA journey. The ‘Colossal Task’ was materialized with complete spirit enthusiasm and commitment, noted Veesha Mohindra.
The International School Award (ISA) is a milestone in the school’s journey towards excellence. It is proud moment for each members of the ADLS Sunshine School.
