Chaibasa, Jan 15: The body of a 25 year-old youth, identified as Mangal Surin, was recovered from forest in Kokcho police station area in Chaibasa (West Singhbhum) on Wednesday. Investigators suspect it could be the case of murder.
According to police, the body bore marks of strangulation in the neck area. The deceased wore the jersey of Hindu Club, Kuluptanga, Adityapur under RIT police station area, they said.
Sources said the body was found on 10th January last in the morning. The youth had gone to play football in Chaibasa on 5th January. He had contacted his family over phone from Chakradharpur on 6th January. Unidentified assailants brutally attacked him and dumped his body in the forest, they said.
Police sent the body to MGM Medical College for postmortem examination. Sub divisional police officer Amar Kumar Pandey informed the family of the deceased about the incident.
Cops said the body of the deceased was tied all over with ropes. The neck, face and limbs were tied with plastic ropes, cops said.
Mangal’s father Arjun Suri said his son could have been abducted before being killed by the culprits.
