971 corona positives in Jharkhand,7 succumb to virus
Jamshedpur/Ranchi, August 5: Twenty two staff at Chief Minister House in Ranchi have tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday, August 5. After which the CM Hemant Soren’s security has been changed. Those found positive include JAP and speicial branch jawan. Three days back 19 staff at CM house had tested positive after which Hemant Sorena and his wife were tested negative for COVID on August 4. Jharkhand on Wednesday reported 7 deaths due to COVID-19 including 3 from Ranchi and one each from East Singhbhum, Giridih, Khunti and West Singhbhum. The death toll in the state has climbed to 136.
August 5 came as horror for Jharkhand as record 978 positive cases were reported in the state taking the total tally to 15048. On the other hand record 584 patients recovered and were discharged from the hospital.
The only death reported in East Singhbhum on Wednesday is of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce & Industries (SCCI) vice-president Dinesh Chaudhury (47) who died at Tata Main Hospital on Tuesday morning but was tested positive on Wednesday morning. The deceased’s family members as well as friends had claimed that Chaudhury must not have died of Covid and were expecting the test report to be negative.
In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has crossed 2400 mark.
72 new cases were reported on Wednesday, August 5 taking the East Singhbhum tally to 2432.
The district administration spokesperson informed that 72 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Wednesday. All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 wards.
Other Jharkhand positive cases were reported from Bokaro 71, Chatra 4, Deoghar 35, Dhanbad 6, Dumka 26, East Singhbhum 72, Garhwa 16, Giridih 7, Godda 339, Gumla 12, Hazaribagh 27, Jamtara 4, Khunti 27, Koderma 6, Latehar 14, Pakur 33, Lohardaga 2, Palamu 51, Ranchi 141, Sahebganj 25, Seraikela 9, Simdega 17 and West Singhbhum 34 taking the state corona tally to 15048.
For 22 days in a row over 200 cases have been reported every single day in the state.
Seven deaths have been reported in Jharkhand on Wednesday, August 5.
The death toll in Jharkhand stands at 136 while corona positive tally has climbed to 15048.
The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi’s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. The state has imposed lockdown till July 31. Religious places, malls, saloon, spas, schools, colleges will remain closed till July 31.
The Jharkhand government has ordered an extension of lockdown related restrictions in the state outside containment zones, up to August 31, due to COVID-19 cases.
The order will come into effect from August 1. Meanwhile, Jharkhand government issued measures for the implementation of interstate quarantine protocol, to all Additional Chief Secretary, DGP, Principal Secretary, IG and Deputy IG.
The order said that “All economic activities permitted prior to this order shall remain permitted.”
The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state is 9086 and fatalities at 136 while 5826 people have recovered and discharged from the hospital. 2245 corona patients tested positive are migrant workers who returned to Jharkhand after May 1.
