Jamshedpur, May 28: The novel coronavirus positive cases rose to 36 with six fresh cases tested positive in the district on Thursday. Two of the positive cases reported in the district hail from Chakulia were home quarantined and had returned from Maharastra. The health team took sample and result was tested positive today. Both the patients have been admitted at TMH.
The corona cases are increasing rapidly in Jharkhand. Two new positive cases were reported in East Singhbhum’s Chakulia.
One case each was reported from Bodam, Parsudih, Bagbera and Galudih in Ghatsila. The person found at Galudih quarantine centre is a resident of Bahragora.
18 cases were reported in Jharkhand on Thursday including five from Ranchi, two each from Garhwa, Gumla, six from East Singhbhum and three from Bokaro. The cases in Kolhan have crossed 50, the positives in Jharkhand stand at 476.
East Singhbhum DC confirmed the detection of two new cases in the district. The positives have been shifted from quarantine centre to TMH COVID-19 wing. Both the patients are migrant workers and returned to Chakulia on May 16. The administration had put them in quarantine at Jodisa School while their swab sample was sent to MGM Hospital on May 19. All are being treated at TMH. In Ranchi’s Medica Hospital four were detected corona positive of which one is resident of Dhanbad. Another positive came up from Kanke in Ranchi is a pregnant lady. One of positive in Gumla is a police personnel who was in duty at Simdega and had returned to Gumla four days back and was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Ranchi after suffering a road accident. During treatment the police jawan was reported corona positive. The second positive in Gumla is a resident of Basiya block and is a migrant worker who returned from Mumbai. The administration had put him up at quarantine centre at the block.
Though Jamshedpur was under a green zone but with rising cases it has come under orange zone. After the news of new positive cases, people are under shock. A government employee stated that the decision to bring back migrant workers from various parts of the country was premature.
The first positive case of Covid-19 was also reported from West Singhbhum at Chaibasa. The youth is of 22 year old and had returned from Chennai on May 14.
Most of the cases reported in Kolhan Division are that of migrant labourers. The administration has asked the authorities to ensure strict screening of the people coming back to the city. Special focus is being laid on the screening. The administration has also set a screening centre at Loyola School where the swab is being collected from those suspects returning back to the city.
The administration has formed teams at block-level and also in three civic bodies of Jamshedpur, Jugsalai and Mango for strict vigil on suspected cases.
Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) special officer, Krishna Kumar who is in-charge of the control room for the four containment zones said that survey was held in over 300 houses.
“The house-to-house survey was completed yesterday evening in over 300 houses falling in the containment zones at Baridih and Sidhgora by a surveillance team comprising officials from health and civic bodies. The sealing in the containment zones will be held for a period of 14 days from Sunday and during which all movement will be prohibited and food and essentials would be provided by volunteers at the doorstep of the houses. One can contact the control room to get essentials delivered at doorstep or for medical emergencies,” said Krishna Kumar.
