Jamshedpur/Ranchi, August 12: Coronavirus fear is increasing in Jharkhand with state registering record cases with every passing day. COVID-19 tally in Jharkhand crossed 20,000 mark on Wednesday, August 12 with 681 new cases reported till the filing of this report.
Seven people died of coronavirus in Jharkhand on Wednesday taking the toll to 204.
Four deaths have been reported from Jamshedpur in East Singhbhum district while one person succumbed to the virus in Dhanbad, Hazaribagh and Ranchi.
681 fresh cases were reported in the state on Wednesday taking the state tally to 20188, till the filing of this report.
Record 1567 people have recovered and were discharged from various COVID hospital’s across the state on Wednesday. 10555 people have recovered in Jharkhand till date.
In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has crossed 3200 mark.
179 new cases were reported on Wednesday, August 12 taking the East Singhbhum tally to 3291.
The district administration spokesperson informed that 179 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Tuesday. All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 wards.
With 4 deaths in Jamshedpur on Wednesday the death toll in East Singhbhum district stands at 95. 110 patients have died across three hospitals in the city including TMH, MGM and Tinplate Hospital.
Four deaths in Jamshedpur on Wednesday include Sarabjit Singh Bhatia, the owner of Dupatta Sagar. He lived in Ranikudar. He was found Corona positive on August 6 and was admitted in Hotel Sonnet, Bistupur for treatment. He succumbed to complications.
The second person who succumbed was a 74-year-old person resident of Golmuri. He was admitted in TMH on August 6 with fever and diarrhoea. He died during treatment. Similarly, a 78-year-old person from Kadma also succumbed to complications. He was admitted in TMH on July 27 for a fractured bone. Later, he tested positive for Corona.
The fourth person who died was from Balrampur in West Bengal. He died due to multi-organ failure. He was admitted in TMH on August 11.
Other Jharkhand positive cases were reported from Bokaro 35, Deoghar 53, Dhanbad 41, Dumka 6, East Singhbhum 179, Garhwa 10, Giridih 12, Godda 12, Gumla 15, Hazaribagh 10, Jamtara 6, Khunti 12, Koderma 11, Latehar 26, Lohardaga 12, Pakur 2, Palamu 5, Ramgarh 5, Ranchi 119, Sahebganj 9, Seraikela 36, Simdega 34 and West Singhbhum 31. The state corona tally has climbed to 20188.

The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi’s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. The state has imposed lockdown till July 31. Religious places, malls, saloon, spas, schools, colleges will remain closed till July 31.
The Jharkhand government has ordered an extension of lockdown related restrictions in the state outside containment zones, up to August 31, due to COVID-19 cases.
The order will come into effect from August 1. Meanwhile, Jharkhand government issued measures for the implementation of interstate quarantine protocol, to all Additional Chief Secretary, DGP, Principal Secretary, IG and Deputy IG.
The order said that “All economic activities permitted prior to this order shall remain permitted.”
