Matriculation and intermediate exams begin, peacefully under strict vigil

Jamshedpur: The matriculation and intermediate started under tight security arrangements on Wednesday. No untoward incidents was reported from anywhere in the district. The number of centres has been increased to provide students a better ambience to answer their examinations to reduce the risk of malpractices for students. The intermediate examinations too were peaceful on the first day.

Foolproof security arrangements have been made for exams. The district administration deputed static magistrates in each of the examination centres while there will be 18 zonal magistrates who would look into the smooth examinations. There were five to six magistrates who would be patrolling the centres for surprise checking.

With throbbing heart beats and pulsating nerves students of the city participated in the examinations. Nervousness ruled the campus as students made last minutes revision and discussions with their classmates.

The matric exam began at 10 am and concluded at 1 pm with home science and commerce being the first paper. The intermediate students answered their vocational course paper today, also an optional subject.

School authorities informed said that special arrangements have been made for the 10th and 12th examination. A flying squad has been constituted to keep a vigil look on the examination process.

“We have made elaborate arrangements for the exams and are happy to note that everything went off smoothly. Students were satisfied with the question papers too,” said a school teacher.

The East Singhbhum district education department is pinning hopes on better matriculation results because of the academic initiatives taken throughout the year.

“We have tried our level best to help teachers and students. I hope the results would be better both for matriculation and intermediate. The rest can only be said after the examination is over and when the results are out,” said an official.

All the zones both in matric and intermdiate have been deputed with zonal magistrates and continuous patrolling. Section 144 was imposed on all the examination centres today and this will continue for all days of the examination.

“We have been strictly asked not to allow cellphones in the campus. We have acquainted him of our issues concerning the security and infrastructure,” said a centre superintendent.

The teacher informed that proper arrangements have been made for desks and benches and invigilators so that students do not face any difficulty while appearing for examination and that proper invigilation is also conducted. We have been strictly asked not to allow cellphones in the campus.

This year 4.41 lakh students will appear for matric across 937 centres in Jharkhand. A total of 3.15 lakh students will appear for intermediate across 458 centres across the state. The major districts- East Singhbhum have registered 23723 students across 70 centres in matric and 20380 students across 28 centres in intermediate this year. Both the class X and class XII exam will conclude on March 9.
