Jamshedpur/Ranchi, July 15: The corona crisis in growing in Jharkhand with every passing day. The average corona positive tally in the state in the month of July is 125. On Wednesday 320 positives were reported in Jharkhand till 10 pm. 268 cases were reported in a single day on July 13. While two corona positive patients succumbed to the virus on Wednesday taking the death toll to 38. Total of 57 patients have recovered and were discharged from different hospitals across the state. 2485 patients have recovered till date.
Coronavirus cases in Jharkhand have crossed 4500 mark with 320 new cases reported on Wednesday. With new cases the state tally has risen to 4566.
In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has reached 710. With 16 new cases reported on Wednesday, July 15, the total cases in East Singhbhum district stands at 710. July 7 saw maximum cases being reported in single day in Jamshedpur with 58 positives. Earlier 43 cases came up on May 30 while July 2 recorded 45 cases in a single day.
The district administration spokesperson informed that 16 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Wednesday while 9 people have recovered and were discharged from TMH COVID-19 ward.
Of the 16 new positives on Wednesday, 6 persons have travel history while 10 persons came in contact with other COVID patients.
1 person each has returned from Chennai, Bengal, Bangalore and 2 has travel history to Bihar.
1 person has returned from Daman and Diu, 1 from Hyderabad, 2 from Chennai, 1 from Aurangabad and 1 person has travel history to Bihar. Of the new positives in Jamshedpur, 1 person is a resident of Gahtsila, 2 Bagbera, 1 Dhalbhumgarh, 2 Bahragora, 1 Telco, 4 Sonari, 1 kadma, 1 Bhalubasa, 1 Jugsalai, 1 Golmuri and 1 person resides at Mango. All the patients have been admitted to COVID-19 wards.
Jamshedpur recorded another corona death on Wednesday, taking the death toll to 5. Within a span of just 15 days 5 corona positive patients have died. 50-year-old woman, a cancer patient succumbed to the virus. Resident of Baridih, deceased had returned from Bihar and was admitted to Tata Main Hospital. Later she was tested corona positive. She died during treatment at the hospital on Wednesday. The situation is alarming given the rising death toll in Kolhan region. But all the deceased have been suffering from critical disease.
Other Jharkhand positive cases were reported from Chatra 5, Deoghar 1, Dhanbad 14, Dumka 1, Garhwa 27, Giridih 19, Godda 2, Gumla 2, Hazaribagh 61, Jamtara 1, Khunti 1 Latehar 23, Lohardaga 15, Palamu 7, Ramgarh 30, Ranchi 71, Sahebganj 11, Seraikela 2, Simdega 1, and West Singhbhum 10 taking the state corona tally to 4566. .
The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state is 2039 and fatalities at 38 while 2485 people have recovered and discharged from the hospital. 2245 corona patients tested positive are migrant workers who returned to Jharkhand after May 1.
The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi’s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. East Singhbhum district accounts for 710 cases out of a total of 4566. The state has imposed lockdown till July 31. Religious places, malls, saloon, spas, schools, colleges will remain closed till July 31.
