Police suspect rape
Jamshedpur : The police recovered a 20-year-old girl in an unconscious state behind the boundary wall of a government high school at Bagbera on Monday morning.
The girl, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, was sexually assaulted. A police team recovered her and rushed her to the MGM Medical College and Hospital where she is said to be in serious condition.
Sources said that the ‘salwar’ that the girl had put was soaked in blood and its string was untied. It appears that someone had tried to kill her. Moreover, a pair of liquor bottles was found lying close to the spot where the victim was found this morning.
Officer-in-charge, Bagbera police station, Shailendra Kumar confirmed to have recovered a girl lying seriously injured near Rajendra Vidyalaya, a government high school in Bagbera.
” It is too early to comment on what led to the assault.
The girl is yet to be identified. We will be able to find out the reason behind the victim’s lying injured at an isolated place only when she returns to her normalcy,” said Kumar.
The officer-in-charge said that the police had recovered the girl from near the school at about 5 am today.
“We were informed that an injured girl was found at abandoned area. As soon as we got the information, we reached the spot and recovered the girl who was lying unconscious,” said the officer-in-charge.
He pointed out that the police had done whatever they could do for getting the girl’s identity established so that they might get some clue to the culprits involved in the heinous crime.
The doctors on emergency duty on condition of anonymity said that the girl might have been subjected to rape.
