Jamshedpur, June 27: Six patients of coronavirus have been admitted at Tata Main Hospital (TMH) in Jamshedpur those who do not have any travel or contact history. Of the 280 admissions, 244 patients have travel history, 30 contact history in Jamshedpur but six had no contact/travel history.
The steel city meanwhile has crossed the 350 mark of COVID-19 positive cases with fresh cases reported every day. As the cases are rising, the recovery rate of patients is also on the road of improvement. The Kolhan Division which was under green zone, came under coronavirus map with two persons testing positive at Chakulia, under East Singhbhum district on May 12. The fear factor is that several non-migrants have also fallen victim.
The officials of TMH informed that out of 280 admissions at TMH 260 patients are from East Singhbhum and 20 from Saraikela Kharsawan. Of the total 280 admission 186 people have been discharged including 168 from East Singhbhum and 18 from Saraikela Kharsawan. : 18.
In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tata Steel is exercising extreme caution and is taking all steps to ensure good health and safety of its employees. The company has identified frontline employees including contract workforce who have higher exposure risk and has made all arrangements to enable proactive COVID-19 testing protocols for them at TMH Jamshedpur. A combination of Antibody and RT-PCR tests will be done so as to understand the disease dynamics. Further strategy will be decided based on the results.
In the pilot phase, 6256 frontline employees of Tata Steel at Jamshedpur have been identified for COVID-19 testing. The risk levels of the identified employees have been done basis their work profile, age, co-morbidity, recent travel history, close contact with COVID person, etc. Current scope covers employees and contract workforce across categories like canteen services and contractor cell, Medical Services, Corporate Social Responsibility, security and brand protection, mechanical maintenance and Occupational Health and Safety.
At TMH, only 20 symptomatics have been found out of 280 admissions, 10 needed oxygen , 5 also needed Non-invasive ventilation support. Moreover 7082 tests have been done till date, 444 tests have been positive (many patients have been tested multiple times). Record 307 tests were done on 24th June 2020.
