Jamshedpur, May 24: A 17-year-old youth drowned in Doumuhani river near the construction area of new bridge under Sonari Police Station on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Sourabh Kumar, resident of Ramjanam Nagar. According to police, Sourabh along with his friends went to take bath in the river when the incident took place.
Sunil Anan, Sonari police station in-charge, said, while Sourabh and his friends were taking bath in the river one of their friends started drowning and soon Sourabh went inside the river to save his friend and at the event present fishermen saved him but Sourabh drowned.
With the help of fishermen three hours of effort was made to save Sourabh but only his dead body was recovered. Later he was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
