Jamshedpur/Ranchi, June 29: Coronavirus cases in Jharkhand have crossed 2400 with 43 new positives reported on Monday, June 29. The number of Covid-19 cases was around 600 in the first week of the month. With 43 new cases on Monday, state corona tally has reached 2429. For the first time in a day, two people have died of COVID-19 infection in Jharkhand taking the state death toll to 15. Giridih woman succumbed to the virus at RIMS in Ranchi while Hazaribagh man died at Medica Hospital.

In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has risen to 381 with 14 new cases reported on June 29. The district administration spokesperson informed that 14 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Monday.

Of the 14 positives in Jamshedpur, 2 have travel history to Haryana while one has returned from Mumbai.

6 of the positives are resident of Golmuri, one is a resident of Kadma, 2 are from Burmamines, 2 from Bistupur, 1 from Agrico and 2 from Mango.

All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 ward.

On Monday, 20 patients have recovered in the East Singhbhum district. 17 patients were discharged from TMH and 3 from MGM Hospital COVID-19 ward.  

Of the 20 discharged two persons are resident of Dhalbhumgarh, 1 from Chakulia, 2 from Dumaria, 1 from Sakchi, 1 from Mango, 1 from Chotta Govindpur, 1 from Parsudih, 1 from Sonari, 5 from Bahragora, 3 from Telco, 1 from Baridih and 1 from Agrico.

Other positives in Jharkhand are from Ranchi 15, Simdega 3, Seraikela 2, Lohardaga 2, Garhwa 2, Hazaribagh 1, Koderma 1, Sahebganj 1, Deoghar 1 and Dhanbad 1 taking the state corona tally to 2428.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state is around 600 and fatalities at 15. Seven deaths were reported in Ranchi, two each in Bokaro and Hazaribag and one each in Giridih, Gumla, Koderma and Simdega.

More than 1950 corona patients tested positive are migrant workers who returned to Jharkhand after May 1.

The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi’s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. East Singhbhum district accounts for 381 cases out of a total of 2429. The state has imposed lockdown till July 31. Religious places, malls, saloon, spas, schools, colleges will remain closed till July 31.
