Haldia: The 39th Annual Flower Show of Haldia Refinery is drawing crowds at the at Silver Jublee Park, Cluster-10. The show which was inaugurated by S N Ray Choudhuri, Executive Director (M&C)-designate on Friday will continue till 4th February.

The plants are categorized under five categories. In class-1 category various types of Pot plants are being displayed. Some pot plants are Dahilia, Chrysanthemum Large and Chrysanthemum Small flowering varieties.

In class-2 category various types of gardens such as kitchen gardens and ornamental gardens are put on display. In class-3 various types of cut flowers such as Dahilia, Rose, Marigold, Gladioli are seen. In class-4 cut flower arrangement is part of the display. The variety of four types has been classified such as fresh flower arrangements, dry flower arrangements, dry & fresh flower arrangements and dinner table arrangements. The last category will contain vegetables (cut/uprooted).

Neighboring Industries and local interested environmentalist is participating in this flower show. 1st, 2nd, and special prizes will be awarded in each category as per opinion of senior and experienced judges. In addition the above, there will be best show prize which will be awarded to the top winner of maximum number of points on the aggregate for the all events. One prize will be awarded as “Queen of the show” for best exhibit among all items except cut flower arrangement. Prize distribution will be held on 4th February. The flower show will remain open for public from 9.00 am to 09.00 pm.

Cultural programs are also being presented by Employees’’ Club, Officers’ Club and Maitree Club. On 3rd Feb, drawing competition was held on the theme of nature for children and vegetable ornament competition for ladies and singing competition for children.
