Jamshedpur: Short Film 2013, a two day programme on documentary films, was organized at SNTI auditorium, Bistupur on Saturday. It was inaugurated by Mansoor Ali, father of well-known Bollywood film director Imtiyaz Ali of Jab We Met fame.

Speaking on the occasion, Mansoor Ali said the changing times had made short films more important than ever before. He said people nowadays do not have time to watch a long movie. Hence short films have a greater chance of acceptance among the audience.

Ali said the short films or documentaries were now being given due importance. Many films on dowry killings, female foeticide, AIDS awareness and other issues are gathering national and international importance, he said.

The programme was conducted by noted theatre artist of the city Gautam Shankar Das. The speakers stressed the need to promote short films as they took up the cause of the society in their own right. Short films often remind one of childhood days, they said.

Many other dignitaries were present during the programme that will conclude tomorrow. Today a total of nine films were screened. Tomorrow 11 films will be shown.
