Jadugora: Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) handed over a water tower built in Baghmara village of Narwa Pahar to the local residents here on Thursday.
The water tower was built at a cost of Rs 4 lakh. Around 150 families residing in Baghmara would be benefitted by the water tower. The General Manager of UCIL Ajay Dhare and other company officials and dignitaries jointly inaugurated the water tower.
In his address, Dhare said the UCIL was constantly pushing itself to something or the other for the welfare of the local population. He said the company was working in the field of education and drinking water under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. He said another water tower would soon be handed over to the villagers of Rajdoha in a fortnight.
The UCIL officials said they were willing to construct water tower in every village if land and power supply were easily available.
Many local villagers were present on the occasion. They included Rajendra Singh, Gajiya Hansda, Kajal Hansda, Laxmi Soren, Narayan Murmu, Rajesh Mardi, Sonaram Baskey and Manka Murmu.
