Chaibasa, April 17 : Amarjeet Sinha, secretary, department of rural development, Government Of India and NN Sinha, Principal Secretary, Rural Development, Jharkhand, attended the two-day programme of Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) at Regerbeda Satpotka village and at Raghai village of Sonua Block on April 16 and 17.

During the programme the secretaries took a decision of alleviating self-help groups from poverty through Antyodaya. The secretaries also decided to improve the quality of life of women by introducing Jawahar Rozgar Yojana (JRY) such as rearing of goats, setting up dairy farms, poultry farms in Manoharpur Block.

The secretaries took feedback from the JSLPS groups during the program. While addressing the gathering, Amarjeet Sinha said that when he was posted in Kolhan the women were scared of moving out of their homes freely whereas as of now the women are not only moving freely in the society but also they are actively taking part in every activities of government development scheme.

‘If the trend continues to work Kolhan would reach a new height of development in national scenario within a short span of time’, secretary, department of rural development said.

Principal Secretary, Rural Development, Jharkhand NN Sinha said, Sonua block self help groups would be lined with National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) and Porahat Mahila Sangh would be made as federation.

NN Sinha assured that the government would also construct a building to run the federation. He further said that the self help group would be covered with Antyodaya Scheme to improve the income of the self help group.

The secretaries also led a oath taking ceremony in which women self help group pledged to follow cleanliness, Shramdaan and refrain from cutting trees, alcohol and social dogmas and help build a model village.

Later, the secretaries planted mango trees in Sonua within an area of four acres. Present on the occasion were Paritosh Upadhyay, MGNREGA commissioner Siddharth Tripathi DC, SP, DDC, ADC, SDO Chakradhrpur and self help groups.
