Jamshedpur, March 20:Unruly scenes marked the last day of the three-day 4th Kolhan University Youth Festival by members of the students union belonging to various constituent colleges.

Members of Jharkhand Chhatra Morcha (JCM) and National Students Union of India (NSUI) protested outside the Karim City College in Sakchi at around 12:30 pmtoday. The activists also damaged windows by throwing stones at the college building.

The district administration had deployed adequate number of policemen on the college campus for controlling the students but students still managed to created ruckus. After an hour of protest, the activists left the venue locking both the entry gates of the college.

The student activists also ensured that all the colleges of the city were closed as a mark of protest against the university.Earlier on March 18 members of the Kolhan University Students Union (KUSU) on the inaugural day of the youth festival protested against not being invited to the members of students union for the youth festival and protesting against the varsity’s decision to make Karim City College, a host for the festival.

About 200 students activists from almost all the parties like Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP);”We have been insulted that the students union weren’t invited properly.

Officials of the Karim City College only invited the president of secretary from each college in spite of the fact that there are six elected representatives that also includes the vice-president, deputy secretary, joint secretary and university representative,” said an official of , ABVP, Kolhan.

Students activists said that they would take the matter to the university soon to ensure that these mistakes doesn’t take place in future.

At the closing ceremony the host college was declared the overall champions followed by Jamshedpur Women’s College as the runner up team.
